What it is for

“By provider” searches for all the channels of a cable provider. It starts from the provider's known frequency and then adds every frequency the network announces in its signal. You do not need to know any numbers.

The providers in your country come first in the list. For Romania these are Digi and Vodafone (starting at 306 MHz, 6900 kSymb/s) and Nextgen (starting at 706 MHz, 6875 kSymb/s), followed by the old “Digi Bucharest” list with its frequencies. After them come the providers of other countries, from the receiver's cable list, grouped by country.

Orange does not publish its frequencies, so its row in the list opens “Whole band”. Below the Romanian providers, a note says that INES, Moldtelecom and StarNet provide television over the internet, not over cable, so you do not search for them here.

The channels found are added to the channel list. The channels you already had are not deleted. The receiver remembers the provider you chose for next time.

The same kind of search is also in the web interface, on the /scanare/cablu/operator page.

How to get here

Path: Main menu > Channel scan > Cable > By provider

Keys on the TV: MENU 1 2 3

In the web interface: the /scanare/cablu/operator page (the “Channel scan” tab, the “Cable” group, the “By provider” button).

What you see on the screen

At the top, the title “Cable scan: By provider”, the time and the date. In the Pro theme, the blue square with the logo is to the left of the title.

The list has two rows: “Provider”, with the chosen provider on the right (for example “Digi: whole network, starting from 306 MHz”), and “Search now”.

Below the list is the preview. For Romanian providers: “Provider Digi (Romania): start at 306 MHz (6900 kSymb/s, QAM64 and QAM256), then all the frequencies announced by the network in the signal.”. For a frequency list: “Provider … (country): 12 known frequencies, plus those announced in the signal.”. For Nextgen, this is added: “The Nextgen network is moving to Orange. If nothing is found, choose ‘Whole band’.”.

Below that, in yellow, is the status line, showing what the keys do or the last message (“Saved.”, “The search did not start.”).

At the bottom are the colour keys: RED “Back”, GREEN “Search now”, YELLOW “Change”, BLUE “Save”.

OK on “Provider” opens the list of providers, full screen. The country headings (“From your country (Romania):”, then the other countries in alphabetical order) are in light blue, the notes in yellow, and the providers are below them, indented slightly to the right. Next to each provider it says where the search starts (“whole network, starting from 306 MHz”) or how many frequencies its list has.

Once the search starts, the “Channel search” screen opens: at the top “Cable” and the frequency being tried now, the moving dots and the text “search in progress, 30% done, 25 channels found”, the progress bar, “Time left: about …” and “Transponders: x of y”. The number of transponders goes up as the network announces its frequencies.

At the end you see the summary (“Channels found”, how many are new, TV, HD, 4K, radio, “Transponders scanned”, “Duration”) and, when the network sends its name, the “Operator network” box, with the network name, “Announced frequencies”, how many channels have the provider's number and where their list in number order is (Satellites › Cable › network name).

Rows and settings

RowValuesDefaultWhat it does
ProviderDigi: whole network, starting from 306 MHz, Vodafone: whole network, starting from 306 MHz, Nextgen: whole network, starting from 706 MHz, Digi Bucharest, old list, providers of other countries, grouped by countrythe first provider in your country (in Romania: Digi)The provider the search starts from. Your country is the one of the menu language. For Romanian providers, the receiver searches the starting frequency with its symbol rate and modulation, then all the frequencies announced by the network. For lists from other countries, it searches the known frequencies, plus those announced in the signal. If a provider's list has values the image does not know, they are set to Auto, and the preview says how many. When your provider is not the factory one, or you are in a different country from the one of the menu language.
Orange: search the whole band (the frequencies are not public)A row in the list of providers, below the Romanian providers. It is not a provider you can choose: OK on it opens the “Whole band” screen on top of this one. “Back” brings you back here. LEFT and RIGHT on the “Provider” row skip it. When you have Orange cable.
INES, Moldtelecom, StarNet: television over the internet, not over cable.A note in the list of providers, written in yellow. You cannot choose it: OK on it shows “That row is only an explanation and cannot be chosen.”.
Search nowOK on this row starts the search, just like the GREEN key. The chosen provider is remembered before the search starts. After you have chosen the provider.
The channels foundThey are written to the channel list only at the end of the search. The channels you already had are not deleted; those found again are updated. You find them in the channel list under Satellites › Cable and, when the network sends channel numbers, also in number order under Satellites › Cable › network name.

Step by step

Search for all Digi channels (or those of the factory provider)

  1. Press MENU 1 2 3.
  2. Check that “Provider” shows “Digi: whole network, starting from 306 MHz” and read the preview.
  3. Press GREEN and wait for the search to finish.
  4. Read the summary and the “Operator network” box, then press EXIT. When asked about the tracks, choose Yes to read them now or No to do it later.

Choose a different provider

  1. On “Provider”, press OK.
  2. Press DOWN until you reach your provider (the country headings are skipped automatically; LEFT and RIGHT jump one page at a time) and press OK.
  3. Press GREEN.

You have Orange cable

  1. On “Provider”, press OK.
  2. Choose the row “Orange: search the whole band (the frequencies are not public)” and press OK.
  3. “Whole band” opens: press GREEN and answer Yes to the question about the duration.

Start the search from your phone

  1. Open the receiver's web interface and go to /scanare/cablu/operator.
  2. Choose the provider from the list. Below the list are the notes (Orange, television over the internet), and below them the preview.
  3. Press “Search now” and follow the search in the “The search on the TV” card.

Problems and solutions

With Nextgen chosen, the search finds nothing.

The Nextgen network is moving to Orange, and the old starting frequency may no longer have a signal. Choose the Orange row or open “Whole band” (MENU 1 2 2).

My provider is not in the list.

If you know one of its frequencies (from the provider's website or from a TV that is already tuned), use “Automatic” (MENU 1 2 5). Otherwise use “Whole band” (MENU 1 2 2).

I chose INES, Moldtelecom or StarNet and nothing happens.

That row is a note: these providers deliver television over the internet, not over cable, so there is nothing to search for here.

The status line shows “That is a group title. Choose a row below it.”

You pressed OK on a country name. Move down to a provider below it and press OK.

The status line shows “The list is empty: the file with frequencies is missing from the receiver.”

The receiver cannot find the list of providers. Use “Whole band” or “Automatic”, and update the image from Software update.

When you start, the message “The cable tuner (…) is set to ‘not connected’ in Tuner settings.” appears.

Open Menu > Dish alignment and setup > Tuner settings (MENU 2 1), turn on the tuner for cable, then come back here.

The summary says “No transponder had a signal.”

The cable is not plugged into the receiver's cable input, the wall socket has no signal, or you chose a different provider from the one on your socket. Check this and try “Whole band”.

I stopped the search with EXIT and I have no new channels.

The channels are written to the list only at the end of the search. Start it again and let it finish.
