Beta testers

Anyone who has one of the receivers on the list and wants to try the image before everyone else helps us: tell us what works, what does not and what should be done differently.

Who can be a tester

Anyone who has a receiver from the list, knows how to install an image from a USB stick and how to restore the receiver if something goes wrong, and has patience with an image that is still being tested.

What you get

The beta image or the testers' image for your receiver, before everyone else, with its updates as packages, and our direct help with problems.

What we ask

Tell us what you did, what happened and what you expected, with the receiver model and the image version (from “About the image”), plus a screenshot from the web interface when you can.

The risks, told honestly

Beta: the image runs on the receiver, but testing goes on; there may be mistakes.
Alpha (testers only): the image is made for the receiver, but it has not been tried on the receiver itself yet. It may not start; then you restore the receiver with the manufacturer's image, following the steps on the receiver's page.
Before any new image, make a copy of your settings and of your channel list.

No payment or other rewards

Being a beta tester is voluntary and is not rewarded with money or in any other way. What you gain is ever better software on your own receiver, made the way you want it. HD Satelit is developed by a private individual, with very limited resources, used for the test receivers and for the development tools, which are expensive. If we obtain sponsorships from manufacturers, new receivers or prizes, we will offer them to the beta testers through contests, as the budget allows. Until then we work in the spirit of the open source community: everyone's contribution makes the software better for all.

How to become a beta tester

Step 1
Sign in to the forum
With your hdsatelit.com account; if you are already signed in on the site, the forum recognises you.
Step 2
Send the request from your account
In your profile, under Beta tester, choose the receiver or receivers you have and write briefly what you want to test.
Step 3
You appear on the list
Once approved, you get the Beta tester badge on the forum and appear below, with your receivers. You can hide your tester status from your account at any time.

Tell us what works and what does not on the image forum, in your language: every receiver has its own topic under Receivers, and a bug is reported under Bugs, with the image version.
