What it is for

The main menu is where you reach every function of the receiver: channel scanning, the dish, timers, information about the receiver, plugins, all the settings, standby and restart, the media player and the settings search.

The rows are in the order you usually need them. The first two, “Channel scan” and “Dish alignment and setup”, are right at the top, on keys 1 and 2, because you need them at first installation and whenever you move the dish.

Each row has a number: pressing that digit on the remote opens the row directly, without moving the cursor. This also gets you quickly into submenus: for example, MENU 6 opens Settings.

You can show the menu as a list (the factory setting) or as large tiles with icons, three per row. The YELLOW key switches between the two at once.

The same menu is also in the web interface, on the /meniu page, with the same rows. From there you can open the web page of each screen or open the screen on the TV.

How to get here

The MENU key on the remote, from live TV.

Keys from live TV: MENU.

Pressing MENU again, in the menu or in any submenu, closes the whole menu and takes you back to TV. EXIT closes only the current level and takes you to the level above.

In the web interface: the /meniu page (“Receiver menu”).

What you see on the screen

At the top: the title “Main menu”, the clock and the date. In the Pro theme, “HD SATELIT” with the “PRO” label is shown to the left of the title, and on the right you see the signal quality of the current channel (for example “Quality 97%”) and the network icon, which shows whether the receiver has internet.

On the left, the list of 9 rows: Channel scan, Dish alignment and setup, Timers & Recordings, System Information, Plugins & Applications, Settings, Power & Restart, Media and Search settings. The selected row has a blue background.

In the Pro theme, there are four boxes on the right that update by themselves. The first, “NOW”: the number and name of the current channel, the programme now showing, its progress bar, the start time and how many minutes are left until the end (for example “+5 min”), then “Next” with the following programme.

The second box: the channel's satellite (for example “19.2°E Astra 1N/1P”), “Quality” and “Signal”, each with its percentage and bar, plus “BER”. Quality tells you how clean the signal is (it decides whether the picture plays without interruptions); signal only tells you how strong it is when it reaches the receiver. BER is the number of errors in the signal: 0 is best. When the tuner also reports the signal to noise ratio, a box with it appears next to BER.

The third box, “Receiver”: the processor temperature, the processor load, the free memory out of the total memory (for example “352 / 822 MB”) and how long the receiver has been on (“Up for”).

The last box, at the bottom: the name and version of the image, with its date (for example “HD Satelit 0.5.9 (22.10.2026)”), and the name of the receiver (for example “Amiko Viper 4K V20”). When you play a film from disk instead of a channel, the signal box goes empty.

In the Classic theme (the factory one), the menu is just a panel with the list on the left, and the channel picture stays on the right, without the boxes described above. You change the theme in Settings > Interface & Appearance > Interface theme.

A row with “(not tested)” next to its name is finished but has not yet been tried on every receiver; “(in progress)” means the function does not yet do everything it should. In the tile view, the same states appear as labels on the tile: “NOT TESTED” or “IN PROGRESS”.

In the tile view, each entry is a large tile with its icon, its name and its number in the corner. There are three tiles per row. At the bottom (in the Pro theme) you see the current channel, the programme, the quality and the temperature, then the keys: OK “Open”, EXIT “Back”, 1-9 “Direct” and YELLOW “List”. When not all the tiles fit on the screen, “Position X of Y”, “Rows above” and “Rows below” appear, with arrows and a bar at the edge.

Rows and settings

RowValuesDefaultWhat it does
1 Channel scanSatellite, Cable, Terrestrial, Detailed scan, Import channels and settings, Default channel listsSearches for channels: on satellite (by transponder, by satellite, several satellites at once, by provider, with manually entered data, DVB-T2 and DAB+ via satellite), on cable and on a terrestrial aerial. “Detailed scan” goes through the channels found and notes what can only be seen while the channel is playing (resolution, audio and subtitle tracks). “Import channels and settings” brings in channels and settings from a copy on a USB stick. “Default channel lists” only appears in the Intermediate or Expert setup mode. At first installation, after you move the dish, or when a channel has changed its frequency.
2 Dish alignment and setupTuner settings, LNB configuration, Dish rotation, Dish location, Angle calculator, Signal finder, DiSEqC testEverything to do with the dish: how it is connected to the tuner (LNB, DiSEqC switch, motor), where you live, the alignment angles, the signal bar for aligning the dish and the switch test. When you install the dish for the first time, add an LNB or a switch, or align the dish.
3 Timers & RecordingsThe list of timers: what will be recorded, on which channel and when. From here you add, change or delete a timer. When you want to see or change what the receiver records.
4 System InformationAbout the image, Licenses, What's new, Device & Hardware, Tuner Overview, Memory Status, Storage & Disks, Network Status, HDMI Information, Channel InformationWhat is installed and how the receiver is running: the image version, what is new in the version, the software licences, the processor, the tuners, the memory, the disks, the network, what the TV receives over HDMI and the technical data of the current channel. The “Safe mode” row appears first only after the receiver has started in safe mode. When you want to find out the version, check whether the disk is recognised or give someone the receiver's details.
5 Plugins & ApplicationsThe plugin manager: you start, install, update or remove plugins. When you want an extra function or a plugin needs updating.
6 SettingsSearch settings, Internet Sources, Video & Display Settings, Audio & Sound Tracks, Recording & Storage Setup, Interface & Appearance, Software & Firmware, Network & Internet, System & DevicesAll the receiver's settings, in groups. The first row, “Search settings”, finds any setting from a few letters. When you close Settings, the receiver saves the changed settings straight away. When you want to change how the receiver looks or behaves.
7 Power & RestartSleep Timer, Standby Mode, Restart Interface, Restart Box, Deep Standby (Power Off)Switching off after a set time, going into standby, restarting the interface (quicker, the receiver does not switch off), restarting the whole receiver and switching it off completely. The “Return to Flash” row only appears on receivers that can start from a USB stick. In the evening, when you want the receiver to switch off by itself, or when a function does not respond and a restart helps.
8 MediaMedia player, Photos, Web browser, Network placesFilms and music from a USB stick, a disk or the network, photos, the web browser on the TV and network places (the computer at home, a NAS). When you want to watch a film or look at photos from a USB stick or the network.
9 Search settingsThe same screen as the first row in Settings and as the TTX key: you type a few letters and find any setting in the whole menu. When you do not know which submenu a setting is in.
Menu look (list or tiles)List, TilesListList: the rows one below the other, with their names. Tiles: three large tiles per row, with the icon and name of each entry. The order, the numbers and what each entry opens stay the same. You change it with the YELLOW key in any menu, or in the web interface on the /skin page, under “Menu look”. It only works with the HD Satelit skin. When you find it easier to choose by icon, for example from a distance.
Setup Mode (OSD Preferences)Simple, Intermediate, ExpertIntermediateDecides how many entries you see in the menus. On Simple, the entries for more advanced users are hidden (for example “Default channel lists” in Channel scan). On Intermediate and Expert you see all of them. When you are looking for an entry that someone else can see and you cannot.

Step by step

Open a function from the menu

  1. Press MENU.
  2. Move the cursor with UP and DOWN to the row you want (or press its digit directly).
  3. Press OK. In the submenu you choose the same way; EXIT takes you back one level, MENU closes everything.

Get quickly to a screen you know, using only digits

  1. Press MENU, then the digit of the group (for example 6 for Settings).
  2. Press the digit of the row in the submenu (for example 6 for “Interface & Appearance”).
  3. The screen opens without any OK. The digit path is given on every help page, under “How to get there”.

Switch the menu to tiles with icons

  1. Press MENU.
  2. Press YELLOW: the menu opens again as tiles. Use the arrow keys to choose a tile and OK to open it.
  3. To go back to the list, press YELLOW again.

Problems and solutions

I press YELLOW and the menu does not change to tiles.

Tiles only work with the HD Satelit skin. If you have chosen another skin in Settings > Interface & Appearance > Screen appearance, the menu stays as a list.

I cannot find a setting in the menu.

Press TTX in any menu (or MENU 9) and type a few letters of its name; OK on the result takes you straight to it.

A friend sees an entry in the menu that I do not have.

Some entries only appear in the Intermediate or Expert setup mode: Menu > Settings > Interface & Appearance > OSD Preferences, row “Setup Mode”. Other entries only appear on receivers that have the function (for example starting from a USB stick) or only when the receiver is in a particular state (safe mode).

A row has “(not tested)” or “(in progress)” next to it.

The function is new: “(not tested)” means it is ready but has not yet been tried on the receiver; “(in progress)” means it does not yet do everything it should. You can use it, but if you see something wrong, let us know.

The boxes on the right of the menu are empty or do not appear at all.

The “NOW”, signal and “Receiver” boxes belong to the Pro theme. In the Classic theme (the factory one) you see the channel picture on the right. The signal box also goes empty when a film from disk is playing instead of a channel.

I pressed a digit and a different screen opened from the one I wanted.

The digit immediately opens the row with that number. Press EXIT to go back and choose again; each row's number is its position in the list, from top to bottom.

The menu closes by itself after I change something.

Some screens close the whole menu when you leave them, so you can see the result on the TV. Press MENU again.
