Video (screen key 1)
English screenshots coming: some of the pictures below still show the receiver and the web interface in Romanian. The rows, keys and steps described on this page are the English ones.

- 1 The title “Video”.
- 2 The rows: resolution, frequency, colours, HDR, 4:3 picture, what you see when changing the channel.
- 3 RED “Cancel”, GREEN “OK”.

- 1 The selected row: “Frequency: 50 Hz”.

- 1 The selected row: “HDMI colours: Like a TV (YCbCr)”.

- 1 The selected row: “4:3 picture: Stretched to the whole screen”.

- 1 The selected row: “When changing the channel: Last picture, smooth”.

What it is for
The “Video” screen sets how the receiver sends the picture to the TV: the resolution (for example 1080p Full HD or 2160p 4K UHD), the frequency (50 or 60 Hz), the HDMI colours, HDR, how old 4:3 programmes look and what you see when you change the channel.
You open it with a single press of screen key 1, without going into the menu.
A new resolution or frequency is only kept if you confirm it. If the TV stays black and you do not answer, the receiver goes back to the previous setting by itself after 20 seconds.
Recommended: 1080p 50 Hz (Full HD) or 2160p 50 Hz (4K UHD). European channels use 50 Hz.
How to get here
From live TV: screen key 1 (the first key with a screen symbol). It also works in the recordings and film player.
From the menu: Menu > Settings > Video & Display Settings > Advanced Video Setup (MENU 6 3 1), the same screen.
In the web interface: /video, with the same rows and the same trial with automatic return.
What you see on the screen
At the top, the title “Video” and the clock.
The rows, one per setting (only those your video card supports appear): Resolution, Frequency, HDMI color space, Color depth, HDR type, HDMI colours, 4:3 picture, When changing the channel.
The list only shows the resolutions the TV says it accepts (read again each time the screen opens), plus the saved one.
Below the list, the help text for the selected row: the recommendation for Resolution and Frequency, and what the row does for the others. With “Automatic by channel” it says: “At every channel with another refresh rate the TV synchronizes again; on some TVs the picture can disappear for a few seconds or completely.”
At the bottom, RED “Cancel” and GREEN “OK”.
After a new resolution or frequency: the question “Does the picture look right?”, with the line “Without an answer the previous setting comes back in 20 s.”, which counts down.
Rows and settings
| Row | Values | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resolution | 2160p 4K UHD, 1080p Full HD, 1080i Full HD, 720p HD, 576p SD, 576i SD (those the TV accepts) | 1080p (Full HD), when the TV accepts it | How many lines the picture sent to the TV has. The list in the “Frequency” row changes with the chosen resolution. It is tried when you press OK, with the confirmation question. When you have a 4K TV (choose 2160p) or when the TV does not show a resolution well. |
| Frequency | 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 24 Hz, 25 Hz, 30 Hz (those of the chosen resolution), Automatic by channel (where the receiver supports it) | 50 Hz | How many times per second the picture changes. European channels use 50 Hz. “Automatic by channel” matches the frequency to each channel or film, but the TV resyncs at every change. When motion on the channels is not smooth (choose the channels' frequency, 50 Hz) or when you watch a lot of 24-frame films (Automatic by channel). |
| HDMI color space | the values provided by the video card | what the video card uses at first start-up | How the colours are sent over the HDMI cable, as the video card names it. The row only appears when the card supports it. Rarely: only when the colours come out wrong on a particular TV. |
| Color depth | the values provided by the video card | what the video card uses at first start-up | How many bits each colour has over HDMI. The row only appears when the card supports it. Rarely: when banding appears in the colours or the TV does not accept the signal. |
| HDR type | the values provided by the video card | what the video card uses at first start-up | How the receiver sends HDR pictures to the TV. The row only appears when the card supports it. When HDR programmes look too dark or washed out on your TV. |
| HDMI colours | Like a TV (YCbCr), Like a computer (RGB) | Like a TV (YCbCr) | With “Like a TV”, the picture looks the same at 50 and 60 Hz. “Like a computer” is applied at the next start-up; on some TVs the picture looks washed out at 60 Hz. If the TV does not accept “Like a TV”, it gets “Like a computer”. When the colours look washed out or too strong. |
| 4:3 picture | Whole, with black bars at the sides, Zoomed, cut at the top and bottom, Stretched to the whole screen, Stretched more towards the edges, Automatic | Whole, with black bars at the sides | How the 4:3 picture of old programmes looks on a widescreen. Stretched: no bars, but people look wider. The row only appears with a wide “Aspect Ratio” and with the values the video card supports. When the black bars on old programmes bother you. |
| When changing the channel | Last picture, Black screen, Black screen, smooth, Last picture, smooth | Last picture | What you see while the receiver switches to another channel. With “smooth”, the new channel only appears once its picture is stable, a moment later. When you prefer a black screen between channels. |
Keys
| UP / DOWN | Move the cursor through the rows. |
| LEFT / RIGHT | Change the value of the selected row. |
| OK / GREEN | Saves. A new resolution, frequency or colours are tried first, with the question “Does the picture look right?”. |
| RED / EXIT | “Cancel”: closes without changing anything. |
| Yes / No (in the question) | Yes keeps the new setting. No, or nothing for 20 seconds: the previous setting returns (“The new video setting was not confirmed. The previous setting is back.”). |
| Digits | They do nothing here. |
Step by step
Switch to 4K on a 4K TV
- Press screen key 1.
- In “Resolution”, use LEFT / RIGHT to choose “2160p 4K UHD”; in “Frequency”, 50 Hz.

Make motion smoother on the channels
- Press screen key 1.
- In “Frequency”, choose 50 Hz and press OK.
- Confirm with Yes.
Problems and solutions
After a change the TV shows “No signal”.
Do not press anything: after 20 seconds the receiver goes back to the previous setting by itself. If you have already confirmed, change it back from the web interface, page /video.
I cannot find 2160p in the list.
The list only shows what the TV says it accepts. Switch the TV on, on the receiver's input, and open the screen again (the list is read each time it opens). Also check the HDMI cable and the TV input.
Motion on the channels is not smooth.
European channels use 50 Hz: choose 50 Hz in “Frequency”.
The colours look washed out.
In “HDMI colours”, choose “Like a TV (YCbCr)”.
With “Automatic by channel” the picture disappears on some channels.
The TV resyncs on every channel with a different frequency; on some TVs the picture disappears for a few seconds. Choose a fixed frequency (50 Hz).
Some rows are missing.
Rows only appear when the video card supports that setting.
